Riot Erupts at Unilorin Teaching Hospital Gate Over Currency Dispute

Earlier today, a protest over the use of old currency in buying and selling turned violent, leading to a full-blown riot at the Unilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) gate.

Angry protesters were seen wielding placards and blocking the entrance to the hospital, demanding an end to the use of the old currency. As the situation escalated, the police were called in to intervene, but their efforts proved futile.

The situation worsened as the army arrived at the scene and began firing shots into the air to disperse the crowd. Tear gas was also used to calm the situation down. The riot has caused significant damage to the surrounding area, including shops and vehicles.

As of now, the situation is still volatile, and residents living around the UITH gate are advised to stay indoors and avoid the area until further notice. It is uncertain when the situation will be under control, but authorities are doing everything possible to restore peace and order.

Local news stations and social media channels are advised to provide updates on the situation as it develops. In the meantime, everyone is urged to stay safe and avoid the area around the UITH gate until the situation is fully under control.

This is a developing story, and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.
